Introduction

Life Expectancy 1.0 is software for calculating an individual's life expectancy. Click here to begin.

The software is intended for lawyers, economists, life care planners, risk managers and others who need to estimate an individual's life expectancy as part of the assessment of damages, lifetime expenses, or reserving.

Life expectancy depends not only on a person's age and sex, but also on race, education, lifestyle characteristics (smoking, obesity, etc.), and medical risk factors such as diabetes and hypertension.

The input to the software is an individual's profile of risk factors, as above, and the output is the life table and derived quantities. Standard actuarial methods are used. The data sources are government statistics and published studies in the medical and actuarial literature on the effect of various risk factors on mortality rates.
