Research & Consulting Assistant on Life Expectancy

  • Small San Francisco research and consulting group. The group's work in life expectancy / epidemiology is internationally recognized.
    1. Our research is on life expectancy and related topics, and is published in major medical journals.
    2. Our consulting is mostly in the litigation (court) context. We give expert opinion on life expectancy, often in a detailed scientific report, and explain/defend our opinions in deposition and trial.
  • Essentials:
    1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, actuarial science or economics), or bachelor's degree plus significant training/experience in such a discipline.
    2. Excellent computer skills.
    3. Unusual attention to detail.
    4. Outstanding oral & written communication abilities.
    5. Strong commitment to the work.
    6. A quick and lively mind.

Other criteria:

  • SAS programming experience would be helpful, but is not required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with graduate degrees, especially MPH.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from the San Francisco area, to avoid the problems of (a) travel for interview, and (b) relocation.
  • Tele-commuting, or otherwise working off-site, are not viable options for this position.
